Seasoned ground beef with fresh veggies, cheese, and classic burger toppings in a satisfying low-carb bowl.

# What You'll Need:

→ Protein

01 - 1.1 lbs lean ground beef
02 - 1 tsp salt
03 - ½ tsp black pepper
04 - 1 tsp garlic powder
05 - 1 tsp onion powder

→ Vegetables

06 - 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped
07 - 2 medium tomatoes, diced
08 - 1 red onion, thinly sliced
09 - 1 large dill pickle, chopped
10 - 1 avocado, sliced

→ Toppings

11 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
12 - 4 tbsp burger sauce or mayonnaise
13 - 4 tbsp ketchup
14 - 2 tsp yellow mustard

→ Garnish

15 - 2 tbsp sesame seeds
16 - Fresh chives, chopped

# Directions:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until evenly browned and fully cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.
02 - While the beef cooks, chop the romaine lettuce, dice the tomatoes, thinly slice the red onion, chop the dill pickle, and slice the avocado. Set everything aside.
03 - Divide the chopped romaine lettuce evenly among four serving bowls to create a crisp foundation.
04 - Spoon the hot cooked ground beef over the lettuce in each bowl.
05 - Layer the diced tomatoes, sliced red onion, chopped pickle, sliced avocado, and shredded cheddar cheese over the beef in each bowl.
06 - Drizzle each bowl with burger sauce or mayonnaise, ketchup, and yellow mustard to taste.
07 - Sprinkle with sesame seeds and fresh chives if desired. Serve immediately while the beef is still warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • All the big, juicy satisfaction of a burger without the carb coma that follows, which makes it perfect for weeknights when you still have things to do.
  • Cleanup is almost embarrassingly easy since everything cooks in one pan and assembles directly into bowls.
02 -
  • Do not skip draining the beef fat or your bowl will turn into a soup, learned this the soggy way on my second attempt.
  • Slicing the avocado at the very last moment prevents it from browning and looking unappetizing by the time you sit down.
03 -
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice over the avocado right after slicing keeps it bright green without changing the flavor.
  • Mixing a spoonful of Greek yogurt into your burger sauce cuts the richness and adds a pleasant tang that ties every ingredient together.
